The Joint Research Centre of the European Commission (EC-JRC, Ispra, Italy) and the Universiteit Antwerpen (UFSIA- Research Centre on Technology Energy and Environment), in collaboration with the Universiteit Utrecht (Copernicus Institute for Sustainable development and innovation) and Universiteit van Amsterdam (Department of Political Science) jointly organise a workshop on ‘Uncertainty in environmental health risk science and policy’.
The worskhop will take place in Antwerp, 25th June 2003.
The discussions at the workshop will deal with uncertainty in scientific studies, that contributed to a concrete policy issue, namely health effects caused by dioxin emissions.
The assessment of uncertainty in these studies will be structured according to NUSAPPedigree schemes.
A diversity of participants will be involved in the assessment by means of interactive deliberation : experts in environmental health risk assessment (toxicologists, epidemiologists, environmental scientists), policy makers, social scientists, representants from industry and civil society (environmental NGO’s, citizen committees,….).
